West Java Governor Demands Maximum Sentence for Sadistic Abuse of Girlfriend
Garut (ANTARA) - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has fully entrusted law enforcement officials to process the perpetrator of the kidnapping and sadistic abuse of his girlfriend in Bandung Regency, demanding the most severe punishment possible. “We leave it to the judge to decide, but for the acts committed, the perpetrator must receive the heaviest sentence under the applicable articles,” Dedi Mulyadi told reporters at the Garut Regency Square on Wednesday. He explained that the perpetrator, identified by the initials TH (Taufik Hidayat, 30), who abused a woman with the initials YTR (29) in Bandung Regency, had been a fugitive after being reported for his heinous acts. The West Java Regional Police finally succeeded in arresting TH on Tuesday (23/6), and he is currently undergoing intensive examination. “I express my gratitude; last night I conveyed my thanks to the Regional Police Chief for the swift capture of Taufik Hidayat,” he said. He stated that following the suspect’s arrest, he must be held accountable and punished under the heaviest possible articles because his actions caused immense suffering to the victim. As a result of the perpetrator’s actions, Dedi said, the victim sustained severe injuries to her eyes, lips, and her body was blistered. The victim is still receiving medical treatment in hospital and her condition is gradually improving. “The victim lost both her eyes, lost part of her lips, and her body was blistered. A proportionate punishment would be extremely severe,” said KDM, as the West Java Governor is familiarly known. Regarding the reward of Rp250 million for any citizen who found the perpetrator, Dedi said it is still under discussion because the person who located and captured the suspect was not a civilian but a police officer. “The reward was announced for a citizen who found him; now the police found him. We will discuss it later, as there is concern about elements of a violation because this involves an officer,” he said.
