West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi Threatens to Withhold Village Funds Over Illegal Drug Distribution

The circulation of illegal hard drugs in West Java is now in an increasingly alarming condition. The sale of these prohibited substances is allegedly being conducted openly and is very easily accessible to various segments of society, including school students.

This situation has provoked a strong reaction from the Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi. He considers that the rampant circulation of illegal hard drugs is not merely a public health issue, but a serious threat that could potentially cause security disturbances and trigger various criminal acts.

As a firm measure, the man familiarly known as KDM issued a stern warning to all village and urban ward administrations across West Java. Dedi threatened to withhold or delay the distribution of government assistance for any village or urban ward proven to still be allowing the circulation of illegal hard drugs in their area.

“If hard drugs are still circulating in a village, government assistance for that village will be withheld,” Dedi Mulyadi asserted while giving a statement at the Subang Police Headquarters on Monday (10/8/2026).

Dedi stressed that village and urban ward officials play a crucial role as the front line in prevention. According to him, local administrative apparatus must proactively carry out strict supervision and maintain intensive coordination with law enforcement officers.

He argued that government assistance should not be viewed merely as budget distribution, but must be accompanied by moral responsibility and tangible performance in maintaining order within the area.

“Villages must not receive assistance while the circulation of hard drugs in their area is left unchecked. Village administrations must share responsibility for safeguarding the security and future of their communities,” Dedi continued.

Furthermore, the Governor expressed hope for synergy between village officials, urban ward officials and the wider community to actively report any suspicious activity related to the circulation of illegal drugs. This is aimed at creating a safe environment and ensuring that the public, especially the younger generation, is protected from the harmful effects of hard drug abuse.
