West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi Offers Rp50 Million Bounty to Catch Street Criminals Alive

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has promised to reward residents who manage to incapacitate street criminals and hand them over to the police alive. The criminals targeted include muggers, pickpockets, and bag snatchers.

“I am offering a bounty for all West Java residents who can incapacitate thieves, pickpockets, and bag snatchers. We have prepared rewards ranging from Rp5 million to Rp50 million for those who can neutralise various criminal acts and hand them over to the police alive,” said the governor, known as KDM, as reported by detikJabar on Thursday (23/7/2026).

In addition to the bounty, Dedi stated that the West Java Provincial Government is continuously coordinating with the police to strengthen security in crime-prone areas, particularly in the Greater Bandung region.

“We continue to coordinate with the police, especially the West Java Regional Police, and we will also coordinate with the Metro Jaya Regional Police to remain vigilant against various criminal acts in West Java,” Dedi said.

He urged officers to intensify night patrols. According to him, the presence of officers in the field must be truly felt to prevent criminal activity.

“Firstly, patrol cars must be on standby every night, their hazard lights must remain on, and Satpol PP and Fire Service personnel must be on standby at strategic points to anticipate all possibilities at any time,” he stated.

Dedi also called on the community to revive the neighbourhood security system, known as siskamling, as a form of mutual cooperation in maintaining regional security.

“Residents conducting siskamling protect themselves and are protected; this is our basic principle of living in mutual cooperation,” he said.
