West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi (KDM) suspends Ojek, Delman and Angkot on Mudik and Tourism Routes During Lebaran, with Compensation
GOVERNOR of West Java Dedi Mulyadi, or KDM, has decided to suspend the operations of ojek, angkutan kota (angkot), delman and becak operating on the mudik routes. They will be suspended for one week. In addition to the main mudik routes, a similar policy will be applied to tourist areas expected to see a surge of visitors after Lebaran. Dedi Mulyadi stated that the independent transport workers will receive compensation money, because they will not be working for a week. ‘This is part of an effort to give informal transport workers an opportunity to celebrate Lebaran with their families,’ he said. On the tourist routes, for the Bandung–Lembang area and the Puncak area, the traditional transport drivers will also be suspended for one week after Lebaran. The policy was taken because those areas typically experience increased tourist activity after Lebaran which can lead to traffic congestion. KDM urged the public to continue steadfast during Ramadan and Lebaran. ‘Lebaran is a time of togetherness that can be felt by all members of society.’
