The West Java provincial government is continuing to help residents find work. One initiative is an online job fair broadcast live through the TikTok account of West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, @dedimulyadiofficial.

Last Friday (16 October), the job fair was streamed from PT Food Packaging Jaya in the Losarang Industrial Estate, Indramayu Regency. Jobseekers can apply for 62 vacancies at 23 companies through the Nyari Gawe app.

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi said some of the available jobs are overseas. These include a nursing position in Germany.

Those hired by PT Assalam Karya Manunggal will receive a range of benefits, including foreign-language training and an air ticket to Germany.

Another overseas opportunity is construction work in Malaysia. Applicants with only primary-school education are also welcome to apply.

Successful applicants will receive a salary of about Rp7 million from PT Prigel Antar Sukses. Overtime pay could raise their earnings further, and accommodation in company quarters will also be provided.

Meanwhile, PT Food Packaging Jaya is also recruiting. The Chinese company has seven vacancies, including for a Mandarin translator and a human resources development staff member.

The company gives priority to residents of Indramayu, who currently make up 90 per cent of its workforce.

Dedi said that as industry in Indramayu expands, cooperation between senior and vocational secondary schools and industry needs to be strengthened so that local residents are prepared to enter the industrial workforce.

“Preparing people from Indramayu to work in industry is necessary, because they previously worked in agriculture and the marine sector. Their way of life will change,” Dedi said in a written statement on Monday (19 October 2026).

Indramayu Regent Lucky Hakim added that 63,000 residents of the regency are currently unemployed. However, he believes unemployment will fall sharply as factories are built in the area. The Indramayu Regency Government has prepared 14,000 hectares of land for an industrial estate.

“People from other regencies in West Java can even work here, because many factories are being built,” Lucky said.

He also urged Indramayu residents to actively pursue entrepreneurial opportunities amid the growth in factories and the workforce. Promising ventures include restaurants and accommodation for workers.
