West Java Governor and Police Chief Destroy Brong Exhausts and Tramadol

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, together with Regional Police Chief Inspector General Pipit Rismanto and members of the West Java Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, destroyed evidence from criminal cases, including brong exhausts, alcoholic beverages, and narcotics and hard drugs such as tramadol. Dedi expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the West Java Regional Police and its ranks in protecting and maintaining public order and security in the province. He also commended the police for their serious crackdown on brong exhausts. ‘Roads are not centres of noise. Roads are not centres of chaos. Roads are not centres of conflict. Therefore, we must start by disciplining motorcyclists, especially those on two-wheelers, to use standard exhausts,’ he said in a written statement on Monday (10/8/2026). The statement was made during the evidence destruction event at the West Java Regional Police Headquarters on Friday (7/8/2026). Drawing from his experience in Lembur Pakuan and his time as a member of the House of Representatives, Dedi is accustomed to taking action against motorcycles with brong exhausts. ‘Going forward, the West Java Provincial Government will prepare standard exhausts as replacements. I will entrust them to the traffic unit to be kept at police posts. The exhaust will be replaced on the spot, and only then can the rider go home,’ he explained. However, Dedi noted that the exhaust replacement programme does not apply to all motorcycles. It is specifically intended for simple motorcycles whose owners cannot afford a standard exhaust, which can cost up to IDR 400,000. Dedi also praised the West Java Police for actively conducting raids on alcoholic beverages, narcotics, and certain hard drugs like tramadol. ‘Why is this a focus? Firstly, public access to obtain them is easy. They are available in small roadside stalls. Therefore, my policy is that when such a building is found, it will be immediately demolished,’ he asserted. Meanwhile, West Java Police Chief Inspector General Pipit Rismanto reported that from June to August 2026, the force uncovered 352 street crime cases with 413 suspects arrested. Authorities also seized 1,016 motorcycles and 12 four-wheeled vehicles from motor vehicle theft cases. In addition to street crime, the West Java Police also took action against narcotics, psychotropic substances, certain hard drugs, and alcoholic beverages. A total of 1,718.43 grams of methamphetamine, 2,917 grams of cannabis, 612 ecstasy pills, 618.86 grams of synthetic tobacco, 822 psychotropic pills, and 2.72 million hard drug pills, such as tramadol, were secured. The West Java Police also successfully seized 25,000 bottles of various brands of alcoholic beverages. Specifically for certain hard drugs, the police have enforced the law in 115 cases involving 128 suspects. Consequently, for narcotics and hard drug cases, the West Java Police have saved 3.1 million lives, with the value of the evidence amounting to more than IDR 20 billion.
