West Java Government Prepares Future Leaders to Face Demographic Bonus

INFO NASIONAL - The Regional Secretary of West Java Province, Herman Suryatman, said that over the next five years Indonesia will face a demographic bonus. For this reason, the West Java Provincial Government is preparing children for both employment and entrepreneurship.

“Our children will become future leaders in 2045, not the other way around by becoming a burden on the future,” said Herman.

According to him, if the demographic bonus is not managed well, Herman is worried that Indonesia will fall into the middle-income trap. That is why, in preparing future leaders, the manager of the Sekolah Manusia Unggul (Maung) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with business players in West Java to integrate the world of education with industry.

Through this cooperation, it is hoped that learning in schools can match the needs of the world of work. The MoU is also one of the efforts to address the considerable amount of unfinished homework, particularly relating to employment.

This will strengthen synergy and collaboration further. The signing was attended by 13 vocational high schools (SMK) and 26 representatives of businesses, including PT Solu Filantropi Teknologi, PT Usaha Adi Sanggoro, Hotel Novotel Bogor and PT Sepa Coklat Indonesia.

The Head of the West Java Education Office, Purwanto, explained that there are 1,123 potential industries in West Java that can support improvements in the quality of SMK graduates in the province. Meanwhile, there are 13 Maung SMKs in West Java with 99 areas of specialisation.
