West Java Government Employee Online Gambling Transactions Hit IDR 14 Billion

The West Java Provincial Government is confronting serious findings regarding the involvement of thousands of its employees in online gambling activities. Based on current contextual analysis data from the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK), the total recorded transaction value reached a staggering figure of approximately IDR 14 billion. The Head of the West Java Regional Civil Service Agency (BKD), Dedi Supandi, revealed that the data encompasses thousands of employees with various employment statuses. Of the 2,694 data entries received, 2,663 employees have been verified as involved in the illegal activity. The verified employees consist of state civil apparatus (ASN) and contract workers. Dedi detailed that the distribution of perpetrators includes 419 ASN, 634 Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK), and the largest group of 1,610 part-time PPPK workers. The nominal transaction values varied greatly, ranging from small amounts to hundreds of millions of rupiah. The most striking finding showed one employee in a particular department recorded a single highest transaction value of IDR 600 million. Dedi explained that the IDR 14 billion figure is an accumulation of all recorded money turnover, including deposits and winnings returned to players’ accounts. Following these findings, the West Java Provincial Government is conducting intensive examinations of all employees on the PPATK list. The results of these examinations will determine the classification of violations, ranging from minor to severe.
