West Java Faces Moderate to Heavy Rainfall Risk Next Week
Bandung Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has warned that West Java province could experience moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds from 25 to 31 May 2026. The conditions are expected to be short-lived and localised.
Acting Head of BMKG Bandung, Edi Wibowo, said the potential for rain remains due to warm sea surface temperatures and humidity levels at the 850 mb layer ranging from 50% to 95%.
‘Potential moderate to heavy rainfall with lightning, thunder, and strong winds, occurring locally and briefly, is possible in certain areas,’ he said on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.
Although the rain potential from 26 to 31 May is not yet evident, the public is urged to remain vigilant as weather conditions may change suddenly and could lead to disasters such as heavy to very heavy rainfall, strong winds, floods, landslides, and fallen trees.
‘Stay calm and prepared, be aware of local risks, and always update weather information while following local government evacuation instructions in case of disasters,’ he added.
