West Java Education Office Sets Requirements for Maung School 2026 Admissions
There will be no zonal admissions path at Maung School, the West Java Education Office announced on Wednesday in Bandung. Purwanto, the Head of the West Java Education Department, said the move aligns with the removal of zonal routes at the flagship Maung School, where the raw intake quota is allocated across three competency streams: academic potential 10 percent, academic competence 70 percent, and non-academic competence 20 percent.
To compete for the abundant 21,000 seats across 28 state senior high schools (SMA) and 13 state vocational high schools (SMK), applicants must note the following strict requirements:
- General Requirements and Age Limits
Must be a graduate of SMP/MTs/equivalent in the current year (2026) or earlier.
Must be no older than 21 years as of 1 July 2026.
- Document and Competency Portfolio Requirements
Have taken the Academic Ability Test (TKA) administered by the Ministry of Education and Culture (specifically for applicants to the academic-competence stream for SMA; SMK are exempt).
Possess high potential or achievements evidenced by the results of the Academic Potential Test, report cards or learning documents.
Attach certificates/awards or non-awards in academic/non-academic fields, as well as a portfolio of work aligned with interests and talents.
- Special Residency and Recommendation Requirements
Have resided in a city/regency in West Java for at least one year, evidenced by a Family Card (KK) and a National Identity Card (KTP).
Must attach a recommendation letter from the former school stating the candidate is accomplished and intends to continue education to higher education institutions.
The online registration account submission process has been open from 18 May to 22 May 2026.
Subsequently, official online registration can be accessed through the Sekolah Maung application on the site https://maung.spmb.jabarprov.go.id, opened on 25, 26, 28, and 29 May 2026.
Results will be announced on 8 June 2026, followed by re-registration on 9–10 June 2026 (noted as 9–10 May in some materials).
For prospective students who are not successful in the Maung School selection, the West Java Education Office still provides an opportunity to re-apply in the SPMB stage 1 or stage 2 at other regular schools.
