West Java Education Office Apologises for Access Issues, Assures Placement for Unaccommodated Students

The Provincial Government of West Java, through its Education Office, has issued an apology to the public for access issues encountered on the Prospective New Student Mapping (PCMB) system website during the announcement of mapping results. Head of the West Java Education Office, Purwanto, explained that the access disruption was caused by high public enthusiasm with many users accessing the system simultaneously, coupled with the process of optimising the announcement feature to ensure data was displayed accurately and precisely. “On behalf of the West Java Provincial Government and the Education Office, we offer our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience experienced by parents and prospective new students in accessing the PCMB results announcement,” said Purwanto during a press conference on the 2026 PCMB results. Purwanto stressed that the issues did not affect data security, as all prospective student mapping data is stored safely. “We provide a full guarantee that all prospective new student mapping data is stored very securely. Not a single prospective student’s rights have been administratively harmed due to this system refinement process,” he asserted. He emphasised that the technical team is continuously working to complete the refinement of the announcement feature so that the service can be accessed optimally by the entire community. Purwanto also reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring all children in West Java have access to education. “Through the implementation of PCMB, the government seeks to map prospective students comprehensively so they receive educational services according to their conditions and available choices,” he stated. Purwanto acknowledged that the capacity of state senior high schools and vocational schools remains limited. Therefore, for prospective students who have not been accepted into state schools, various schemes have been prepared so they can still continue their education. Currently, there are approximately 77,000 prospective students who have not been accommodated in state schools. “Children who have not been accommodated in state schools will be channelled to private schools that cooperate with the West Java Provincial Government as part of efforts to protect educational services,” Purwanto revealed. He explained that this cooperation is being expanded through coordination between branch education offices and private schools in each region, particularly in areas with a high number of unaccommodated prospective students.
