West Java Education Agency Responds Positively to Central Government Taking Over Authority of Over 28,000 PPPK Teachers

The Education Agency (Disdik) of West Java Province has responded positively to the central government taking over authority for PPPK teachers. The total number of part-time PPPK teachers stands at 20,534, while full-time PPPK teachers number 8,245.

“Yes, if the transfer of authority is based on a proper evaluation and analysis, then of course we are pleased, because through proper analysis the news of PPPK being pulled back to the centre has already emerged,” said Head of the West Java Provincial Education Agency Purwanto on Thursday (20/8/2026).

He said the central government’s takeover of authority for PPPK teachers is expected to lead to better governance, improved teacher competence, as well as enhanced welfare and career prospects. “Full-time PPPK teachers number 20,534 and part-time 8,245,” he said.

Purwanto admitted he did not yet know for certain whether the transfer of management authority would reduce the fiscal burden on the West Java Provincial Budget (APBD). He said the total budget prepared for PPPK comes from the West Java Provincial APBD.

“We do not yet know what the fiscal policy will be like later. Actually, the budget we pay out also comes from the centre,” he said.
