West Java Education Agency Reported to Ombudsman Over Chaotic 2026 New Student Mapping
The controversy surrounding the implementation of the 2026 New Student Mapping (PCMB) and New Student Admission System (SPMB) in West Java has entered a new phase. A group of parents, together with education activists, has reported the West Java Education Agency to the Indonesian Ombudsman. The complaint was filed following a series of problems that marred the PCMB and SPMB process, ranging from application disruptions and a complaint process deemed sluggish, to an overwhelming flood of public grievances delivered directly to the West Java Education Agency office. Chairman of the West Java Association of Retired Indonesian Educators (P3I), Iwan Hermawan, believes there are indications of maladministration in the delivery of these education services. “We see indications of maladministration violations committed by the West Java Education Agency. One of them is poor service to the public, resulting in significant losses of energy, money, and peace of mind for the community,” Iwan said after submitting the report, as reported by detikJabar on Monday (15/6/2026). According to Iwan, the poor service occurred in both the digital and face-to-face services received by the public during the PCMB process. “First, poor digital service: the application system frequently experienced errors, causing anxiety, and the announcement timeline was unclear. That is what we mean by poor service,” he stated. In addition to application issues, Iwan also highlighted the complaint service, which was unable to accommodate the large number of people seeking solutions to various registration obstacles.
