West Java Education Agency: Data Adjustment Causes Disruption to New Student Mapping Announcement
Bandung (ANTARA) - The West Java Education Office has confirmed that access issues on the New Student Admission System (SPMB) website during the announcement of the New Student Mapping (PCMB) results on Saturday were caused by a sudden process of final data adjustment and refinement.
The announcement website, located at spmb.jabarprov.go.id, was reported to be down and inaccessible to thousands of parents since Saturday, from 1:00 PM WIB until the late afternoon.
“This adjustment was carried out to refine the data and mapping results to ensure the entire process runs optimally, and that the information received by prospective new students and the public is presented accurately, validly, and in accordance with applicable regulations,” said the Head of the West Java Education Office, Purwanto, in a statement in Bandung on Saturday evening.
He emphasised that this data intervention in the system is part of the agency’s efforts to maintain data quality and the integrity of the selection system. This was done to prevent fatal errors in determining student passing results.
Thousands of anxious parents expressed their grievances in the comment sections of the West Java Education Office’s official social media accounts, as the uncertainty regarding their children’s educational future was hindered.
At least, until 4:00 PM WIB, there had been no detailed technical explanation as to whether a surge in user traffic had exacerbated the paralysis of the selection system’s server.
To anticipate widespread public unrest, Purwanto requested that the public, particularly parents and guardians, exercise restraint and not panic while the data repair process is underway.
“We also invite all prospective new students as well as parents/guardians to remain calm and follow information updates from official sources. We thank the entire community for their understanding,” he said.
The West Java Education Office ensured that this validation process would be completed as soon as possible. He urged the public to continue monitoring periodic information updates through spmb.jabarprov.go.id and official local government communication channels.
Based on a previous statement by Governor Dedi Mulyadi, digital system infrastructure must be under the coordination of the West Java Communication and Informatics Office (Diskominfo). Following the recent disruption, Diskominfo West Java has been given the responsibility for the technical management of the 2026 West Java SPMB system, including the PCMB stages.
However, as of now, there has been no official statement from Diskominfo West Java regarding the cause of the server disruption or the estimated time for system recovery.
