West Java Education Agency: Data Adjustment Causes Disruption to New Student Mapping Announcement
Bandung (ANTARA) - The West Java Education Agency has confirmed that access problems with the New Student Admission System (SPMB) webpage during Saturday’s announcement of the New Student Mapping (PCMB) results were caused by a sudden process of final data adjustment and refinement. The announcement page at spmb.jabarprov.go.id was reported to have crashed and could not be accessed by thousands of parents from 1 p.m. Western Indonesia Time until the evening. “This adjustment was carried out in order to refine the data and mapping results to ensure the entire process runs optimally, and that the information received by prospective new students and the public is presented accurately, validly, and in accordance with applicable regulations,” said Head of the West Java Education Agency Purwanto in a statement in Bandung on Saturday evening. He stressed that the data intervention step in the system was part of the agency’s efforts to maintain data quality and the integrity of the selection system. This was done to prevent fatal errors in determining student graduation results. Thousands of anxious parents vented their complaints in the comment section of the West Java Education Agency’s official social media accounts because they were hindered from knowing the certainty of their children’s educational fate. At least until 4 p.m. Western Indonesia Time, there had been no detailed technical explanation regarding whether a surge in user traffic had exacerbated the paralysis of the selection system server. Anticipating widespread public anxiety, Purwanto asked the public, especially parents and guardians, to exercise restraint and not panic while the data repair process was underway. “We also invite all prospective new students and parents/guardians to remain calm and follow information developments from official sources. We thank the entire community for their understanding,” he said. The West Java Education Agency assured that this validation process would be completed as quickly as possible. He urged the public to continue monitoring periodic information updates via spmb.jabarprov.go.id and the regional government’s official communication channels. Based on a previous statement by Governor Dedi Mulyadi, digital system infrastructure must be under the coordination of the West Java Communication and Informatics Agency (Diskominfo), and after the turmoil a few days ago, Diskominfo Jabar was given responsibility for the technical management of the 2026 West Java SPMB system, including the PCMB stage. However, to date there has been no official statement from Diskominfo Jabar regarding the cause of the server disruption or the estimated system recovery time.
