West Java DPRD Urges Local Government to Leverage School Holidays to Boost Economy

Bandung (ANTARA) - The Chairman of Commission III of the West Java Regional Council, Jajang Rohana, is urging local governments to utilise the school holiday momentum to increase economic growth through the tourism sector, which is considered capable of driving community business activities across various tourist destinations.

Jajang stated that the increase in tourist visits during the school holiday period will have a positive impact on various business sectors, ranging from eateries and accommodation to service providers in tourist areas.

“Indeed, the tourism sector is one of the drivers for increasing regional economic growth, particularly in tourist destinations,” Jajang said in Bandung on Monday.

According to him, tourism activities not only increase economic circulation but also encourage the equitable distribution of income from urban areas to regions possessing tourism potential.

In addition to promoting the tourism sector, he also requested that the West Java Provincial Government continue to strengthen ease of licensing, legal certainty, and the investment climate to maintain regional economic growth into 2026.

He noted that investment realisation in West Java in 2025 had exceeded the set target of Rp300 trillion, meaning this momentum must be maintained by creating a conducive investment climate.

According to Jajang, strengthening infrastructure is one of the vital factors in attracting investor interest to plant capital in West Java, while simultaneously supporting sustainable regional economic growth.
