West Java DPRD urges KDM to balance physical development with poverty issues

Bandung (ANTARA) - Chairman of the West Java Provincial DPRD, Buky Wibawa Karya Goena, has urged the West Java Provincial Government not to focus solely on physical development, but also to balance its priorities with poverty alleviation and reducing unemployment.

Buky emphasised that addressing these social issues is a regional challenge, including for West Java which has now reached 81 years of age, requiring serious attention, so that community economic empowerment programmes must proceed in tandem with improvements to infrastructure and public services.

“The government needs to balance its priorities. Physical development and services must be accompanied by community empowerment to effectively address poverty and unemployment,” said Buky.

Buky said his party assesses that strengthening governance and effectively handling social issues is crucial to realising the West Java development vision for 2025-2029, namely “Jabar Istimewa, Lembur Diurus, Kota Ditata” (A Special West Java, Villages Cared For, Cities Organised), while also aligning with the third and fourth missions of the Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD).

Beyond the aspect of equitable development, Buky encouraged the West Java Provincial Government to strengthen an adaptive, integrity-driven bureaucratic transformation that upholds the principles of good and clean governance.

“As West Java reaches its 81st year, we want the bureaucracy to be increasingly clean, open, and adaptive, so that the benefits of development are truly felt by the public,” he said.

He added that bureaucratic strengthening must lead to public services that are easily accessible, transparent, and accountable through the use of technology, innovation, and active citizen participation.

“We want the West Java bureaucracy to deliver the best service. This governance strengthening must be consistent and aligned with the achievement targets of the 2025-2029 RPJMD,” he concluded.
