West Java DPRD urges government to provide compensation for residents affected by BRT
Member of Commission I of the West Java DPRD, Tedy Rusmawan, has requested that the Central Government communicate with the Bandung City Government to provide compensation to communities affected by the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project. According to Tedy, this step is important so that the BRT programme can run optimally without causing resistance from residents. “The Bandung City Government must be bold, like the West Java Provincial Government, when there are affected communities, compensation is given,” said Tedy in Bandung on Sunday. He emphasised the importance of intensive communication with the community to avoid misunderstandings during project implementation. “In terms of grand design, this BRT is one of the solutions to handling congestion in Bandung City,” he stated. He also assessed that the programme is already urgent because it is part of a national programme that is also implemented in several other cities, including Medan. According to him, the amount of budget that has been allocated must be matched with optimal implementation. “It’s a shame if it’s not optimised, because the budget is quite significant,” he said.
