West Java Deputy Speaker Ono Surono inspected the progress of the new Batutulis route development in South Bogor District, Bogor City, last weekend. The inspection aimed to ensure the project remains on track for completion by October 2026. The construction of the new route follows a landslide in 2025 that severed transport access in the area. Physical construction is financed through the West Java Provincial Budget (APBD), while land acquisition is the responsibility of the Bogor City Government. ‘Alhamdulillah, the construction is now underway. The construction is funded by the West Java Provincial Budget, while the land acquisition is handled by the Bogor City Government,’ Ono said during the site visit. He praised the synergy between the provincial and city governments, calling it a crucial factor in accelerating the long-awaited project. According to the project executor’s report, progress has reached approximately 22 percent. Ono expressed optimism that the work would be completed by October 2026 for immediate public use. He explained that the project includes not only road construction but also drainage systems, park landscaping, and the reforestation of the Leuweung Batutulis area as part of disaster mitigation efforts. ‘God willing, the construction will be finished by October 2026. It is not just the road being built, but also drainage, parks, and the reforestation of the Leuweung Batutulis area to minimise future landslide risks,’ he said. In addition to reviewing progress, Ono reminded the project implementers to consider the impact of construction on community activities. He stressed the importance of maintaining road cleanliness by ensuring that materials carried by project vehicles do not dirty the streets. Ono stated that the West Java DPRD will continue to oversee strategic infrastructure projects to ensure they are completed on time, with good quality, and provide benefits to the community. The new Batutulis route is expected not only to restore transport access disrupted by the landslide but also to strengthen disaster mitigation through sustainable and environmentally friendly development.
