West Java DPRD Supports Sheep Farmer Capacity Building in Cirebon
Cirebon (ANTARA) - Commission II of the West Java Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) supports the capacity building of sheep farmers through technical guidance (bimtek) activities in Cirebon Regency.
The Chairman of Commission II of the West Java DPRD, Bambang Mujiarto, stated in Cirebon on Friday that strengthening the capabilities of farmers is a vital aspect of developing the livestock sector. He noted that the livestock sector plays a strategic role by supporting food security while serving as a primary source of livelihood for the community.
“Therefore, the continuous improvement of human resource quality in the livestock sector must be carried out to ensure that livestock enterprises continue to grow,” he said.
On this basis, he stated that the council supports the capacity-building programme implemented by the West Java Food Security and Livestock Agency (DKPP) in Cirebon Regency during the second week of June 2026.
He assessed that these activities provide direct benefits to farmers by increasing their knowledge and skills in managing livestock businesses. “Furthermore, the materials provided in the technical guidance can be applied by participants to improve the quality of livestock maintenance and development,” he added.
According to him, the continuous improvement of farmers’ abilities will directly impact the productivity of the livestock produced. “Better productivity is considered essential to meet the ever-evolving market demands,” he said.
On the other hand, he noted that increased productivity also has the potential to provide greater economic value for farmers. He emphasised that farmers must be prepared to face the changing challenges and opportunities within the livestock industry.
“Therefore, collaboration between the government, farmers, and other stakeholders needs to be strengthened to support the progress of the livestock sector,” he stated.
Bambang remarked that coaching activities, such as technical guidance, serve as a means to improve the quality of human resources in the livestock field. “Ultimately, increased productivity will impact the welfare of farmers and strengthen food security in West Java,” he concluded.
