West Java DPRD Supports Sheep Farmer Capacity Building in Cirebon
The West Java Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) Commission II has expressed its support for improving the capacity of sheep farmers through a technical guidance programme (bimtek) in Cirebon Regency. Commission II Chairman Bambang Mujiarto stated that strengthening farmers’ abilities is a crucial aspect of developing the livestock sector. He noted that the sector plays a strategic role in supporting food security and providing livelihoods for the community. Therefore, enhancing human resources in animal husbandry must be carried out continuously to ensure business growth. Bambang explained that the programme, conducted by the West Java Food Security and Livestock Agency (DKPP), provides direct benefits by equipping farmers with new knowledge and skills. He believes that improved farmer capabilities will lead to higher livestock productivity, which is essential to meet evolving market demands. Increased productivity also holds the potential for greater economic value for the breeders. He stressed that farmers must be prepared to face changing challenges and opportunities in the livestock business. Bambang called for strengthened collaboration between the government, farmers, and other stakeholders to advance the sector. He concluded that such coaching activities serve as a means to improve human resources, ultimately enhancing farmers’ welfare and reinforcing food security in West Java.
