West Java DPRD Supports Provincial Government Covering Medical Costs of Confinement Victim

The Chairman of the West Java Regional Council (DPRD), Buky Wibawa, supports the West Java Provincial Government’s initiative to bear the full medical costs for the victim of kidnapping and abuse, identified by the initials YTR, by Taufik Hidayat in Bandung Regency. He noted that this policy ensures the victim receives necessary medical treatment without the burden of financial hardship.

Buky stated that the DPRD hopes the victim’s care is conducted swiftly and comprehensively, covering not only the period of hospitalisation but also the rehabilitation phase after being declared recovered. “In conclusion, we want rapid handling for the victim, both in terms of medical treatment and post-recovery care,” said Buky.

He also expressed appreciation for the commitment of the Governor of West Java, who stated that all medical costs would be covered by the government, meaning the public no longer needs to organise fundraising for medical expenses. “I also appreciate the Governor’s step in directly stating that all medical costs will be borne by the government,” he added.

Nevertheless, Buky emphasised that the public may still provide assistance as a form of compassion for the victim. He noted that such donations would belong entirely to the victim and should not be used to pay hospital bills, as all healthcare services are guaranteed by the government.

Previously, the West Java Regional Police named Taufik Hidayat as a suspect in the case of kidnapping and abuse against YTR, which allegedly lasted for approximately three years in a boarding house in the Cileunyi area, Bandung Regency. As a result of the incident, the victim suffered several severe injuries affecting her physical condition, including visual impairment, difficulty speaking, and the inability to walk normally.

The West Java Police have placed Taufik Hidayat, the suspect in the kidnapping and abuse of the woman identified as YTR, in a special cell under strict CCTV surveillance.

The victim, YTR (29), met the suspect, Taufik Hidayat, through the dating application Tinder. She noted that violence within dating relationships is still often regarded as a private matter, causing it to escape public attention.
