The West Java DPRD Secretariat is preparing several programmes aimed at strengthening the involvement of community groups in expressing their aspirations. Two of these include the ‘Sapa Disabilitas’ (Greeting Disabilities) programme and the strengthening of women’s issues, which are planned to be included in the Work Plan (Renja) for the 2026/2027 Fiscal Year.

The Secretary of the West Java DPRD, Dodi Sukmayana, stated that the ‘Sapa Disabilitas’ programme was conceived because there are currently limited programmes specifically targeting the disabled community within the West Java DPRD’s performance.

According to him, the programme is expected to create a closer communication channel between the DPRD and disability groups, allowing aspirations, complaints, and feedback to be conveyed directly.

“We plan to launch the Sapa Disabilitas programme in 2027 to make it easier for people with disabilities to convey aspirations, complaints, and input to the West Java DPRD,” Dodi said recently.

Through this programme, the West Java DPRD will not merely wait for aspirations to arrive at the parliament building. Teams will directly visit disability groups in various regions across West Java.

In its initial stage, the ‘Sapa Disabilitas’ programme aims to reach approximately 12,000 people with disabilities. This step is expected to ensure that the needs and challenges faced by the disabled community are understood more comprehensively.

In addition to disability issues, the West Java DPRD Secretariat is also preparing to strengthen women’s issues within its Work Plan. This reinforcement will subsequently imply budgetary support for various programmes related to women in West Java.

“We will prepare a specific budget to support these women’s issues,” he said.

In its implementation, the West Java DPRD plans to expand its involvement in several activities that directly touch the community. These include visits to ‘posyandu’ (integrated healthcare centres), supporting PKK (Family Welfare Movement) programmes, and assisting in the handling of stunting issues in the regions.

Dodi hopes that the strengthening of these two issues will bring the DPRD closer to the community. The prepared programmes are also expected to go beyond ceremonial activities, aiming instead to capture the needs of citizens and become part of the effort to strengthen services and policies that favour groups requiring special attention.
