West Java DPRD pushes for equitable investment in Rebana region
The West Java Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) is pushing for equitable investment across the Rebana region, which includes the regencies and cities of Cirebon, Indramayu, Majalengka, Kuningan, Subang, and Sumedang, in a bid to narrow the development gap with the Greater Jakarta area (Jabodetabek).
Wakil Ketua Komisi III DPRD Jawa Barat M. Romli stated that investment realisation in the Rebana area throughout 2025 reached approximately Rp36.68 trillion. In the first quarter of 2026 alone, investment recorded stood at Rp6.5 trillion, representing around 8.43 per cent of total investment entering West Java.
“Looking at the incoming investment, Sumedang and the Rebana region are promising for investors, while also serving as an effort to achieve equity and avoid high disparities between regions, especially with Jabodetabek,” Romli said in Bandung on Sunday.
He noted that the West Java DPRD will continue to encourage investment into the Rebana area and the southern part of West Java, including the development of a green industrial zone in Majalengka supported by the presence of Kertajati International Airport.
Romli stressed that the DPRD’s focus is not solely on pursuing investment targets, but on ensuring that incoming investment delivers a real impact on the local economy. “In terms of achievement, I think it is already quite optimal. The question now is how this investment can have an impact on reducing unemployment. The provincial government must safeguard that,” he said.
He added that the DPRD is actively communicating with potential investors in Jakarta, promoting the potential of West Java’s regions, including easy infrastructure access, industrial estates, and workforce availability. “We explain that many areas in West Java are excellent for investment, with good and easily accessible infrastructure, including labour, so that they are willing to invest in West Java,” Romli said.
