West Java DPRD Proposes Draft Regional Regulation on LGBT
West Java’s provincial legislative council (DPRD) has proposed the formation of a Regional Regulation Draft (Raperda) on protecting families from deviant sexual behaviour or LGBT up to the negative impacts of the digital era. Deputy Chair of Commission V of the West Java DPRD, Siti Muntamah, said the Raperda is an initiative of the DPRD and is planned to be included in the Amended Regional Regulation Formation Program (Propemperda) for 2026. “The drafting of the Raperda on protecting families from deviant sexual behaviour or LGBT up to the negative impacts of the digital era is a follow-up to the hearing with Giga Indonesia,” Siti said in a statement received in Bandung on Wednesday. She said the regulation is seen as an important preventive step to address social issues developing in society. It is believed the regulation can serve as a legal umbrella to protect families, especially children, from the impacts of sexual deviance and the negative influences of the digital era. “They have urged that the Raperda be formed as soon as possible to provide protection for families, particularly as a preventive measure against sexual deviancy,” she added.
