West Java DPRD Opens Door to Special Committee for Student Admission System Evaluation
The Commission V of the West Java Provincial House of Representatives (DPRD) has responded positively to public aspirations regarding the proposal to form a special committee (pansus) to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the 2026 Student Admission System (SPMB) implementation. The proposal surfaced during a public hearing involving the community, the West Java DPRD, and the West Java Education Agency in the Commission V meeting room in Bandung on Thursday (11/6/2026). The proposed evaluation covers policy aspects through to the implementation of the SPMB.
Chair of Commission V, Siti Muntamah, commonly known as Ummi Siti Oded, stated that the various inputs from the public would be discussed internally within the commission, including the possibility of forming a special committee if deemed necessary. "Commission V will deliberate on the various aspirations conveyed. If the formation of a special committee is indeed required to examine the administration and overall implementation of the SPMB, it will certainly be part of our discussions. We will openly convey the results to the public," said Ummi Siti.
According to her, this step is part of the West Java DPRD’s commitment to continuously oversee the SPMB implementation to ensure it runs transparently, is responsive to emerging issues, and can be optimally supervised until all stages are completed. Ummi Siti assessed that this hearing forum is an important space to strengthen collaboration between the community, the DPRD, and the regional government in promoting better governance of new student admissions. "This hearing is expected to be an initial step in strengthening collaboration between the community, the DPRD, and the regional government to realise a new student admission system that is better, fairer, and in the interest of the people of West Java," she said.
Meanwhile, the Head of Teachers and Education Personnel (GTK) at the West Java Education Agency, Firman Oktora, stated that public input serves as important evaluation material for improving education governance in West Java. "The inputs provided are very productive for improving and fixing existing governance. We will continue to inform about developments and the steps we have and will take," said Firman. Through this forum, the DPRD and the regional government are expected to strengthen oversight while ensuring that the SPMB implementation runs more accountably and provides a sense of justice for the community.
