West Java DPRD Emphasises Strengthening of Waste Banks and TPS3R Across All Regions
Bandung (ANTARA) - Tedy Rusmawan, a member of Commission IV of the West Java DPRD, is encouraging all local governments in the province to strengthen community-based waste management through the development of waste banks and Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Waste Processing Sites (TPS3R). According to Tedy, the role of local governments, at city, regency, and provincial levels, needs to be elevated in supporting community-based waste management systems. He assessed that the Environmental Agency (DLH), as the main driver with a strategic role, needs to be optimised, particularly in coaching, mentoring, and enhancing the capacity of waste bank activists. “These waste bank activists are already striving to help the government reduce waste volumes. However, attention and support from local governments still need to be increased,” he said. The West Java DPRD is also opening opportunities for more intensive cooperation with the provincial government, especially in aspects of coaching, consultation, and supervision of DLH at the regency and city levels. “In the future, through the West Java Provincial DLH, coaching will continue to be promoted to reach DLH at the regency and city levels more optimally,” he said. This step is expected to strengthen synergy between the government and the community in addressing waste problems, while also increasing the effectiveness of community-based programmes. “The West Java DPRD is optimistic that, with the enthusiasm of waste bank activists and increasingly strong government support, waste problems in various regions can be handled better,” Tedy stated.
