The West Java Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) Commission III is urging the management of regional-owned enterprise (BUMD) PT Jasa Sarana to immediately halt all loss-making business lines and conduct a thorough evaluation to save the region’s remaining assets. This call comes as the infrastructure-focused BUMD has experienced a drastic asset shrinkage of up to Rp500 billion, coupled with an annual operational deficit of Rp3 billion. Commission III Chairman Jajang Rohana stated that businesses which have not generated profit and instead caused losses must be evaluated and stopped. He added that the company should focus more on developing productive sectors with profit potential to restore its financial health. Based on an in-depth audit and evaluation by the commission, the total asset value of PT Jasa Sarana, which was once recorded at over Rp1 trillion, is now estimated to be only around Rp500 billion. The situation is worsened by the company’s outstanding debt obligations, which range between Rp170 billion and Rp180 billion, leaving the net asset value at approximately Rp400 billion. In response to this financial crisis, Commission III is encouraging PT Jasa Sarana to take tactical recovery steps through asset optimisation, including the option of divesting non-productive idle assets to strengthen capital for business lines with bright prospects. Jajang emphasised that strict oversight aims to ensure the BUMD returns to a healthy and professional function, thereby maximising its contribution to the province’s Regional Original Income (PAD) rather than becoming a burden on the regional budget.
