The West Java provincial government is distributing compensation funds to minibus drivers, horse-cart drivers, and pedicab operators as an incentive to cease operations during the 2026 Eid holiday travel period.

Governor Dedi Mulyadi made this announcement following the Operasi Ketupat Lodaya 2026 parade at the West Java Police Headquarters in Bandung on Thursday, 12 March 2026. The operation is part of preparations for the 1447 Hijri Eid celebrations in 2026.

Dedi stated that 3,000 minibus drivers, horse-cart drivers, and pedicab operators would receive compensation totalling 6.9 billion rupiah. He confirmed that the provincial finance management authority had begun distribution that evening, with the process to be completed by the following day.

The drivers receiving compensation operate in Garut, Cirebon, Subang, Bogor, Cianjur, Padalarang, Lembang, and Bandung city. Some have been requested to take leave before Eid, whilst others after the holiday. “We are considering giving drivers time off not just for the homecoming rush, but also for tourist traffic after the festivities,” he said.

The West Java provincial government is also providing healthcare services during the Eid holiday period. This includes an ambulance service operating on the Cipali Toll Road, which was created from a renovated gubernatorial vehicle. The initiative was inspired by an incident where a resident gave birth roadside. “Today we will launch this service on the Cipali Toll Road so that if someone goes into labour on the road, they can give birth in the vehicle, not on the roadside,” he said.

Dedi urged the public to appreciate field officers on duty and thanked the families of personnel for allowing their relatives to work towards ensuring smooth holiday travel.
