West Java Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan will take firm steps in accordance with applicable regulations and coordinate with the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) to follow up on the phenomenon of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) individuals in West Java. This is especially the case if any state civil apparatus (ASN) are proven to be LGBT. He conveyed this to the media after attending the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2026 at the Pullman Hotel, Bandung City, on 9 July. “I have said several times that the West Java Provincial Government is combating LGBT in the West Java region,” he stressed, as quoted on Tuesday, 14 July 2026. Erwan emphasised that sanctions for ASN who are LGBT will refer to the provisions of the applicable laws and regulations. “If it is in accordance with the legislation, the most severe sanction is dismissal. And if there are any criminal acts, we will hand them over to law enforcement officials,” he asserted. Furthermore, Erwan also invited the public to play an active role by submitting reports to the authorities if they discover suspected legal violations. “I hope the public will provide accurate reports, both to the police and to us, so that we can immediately take steps according to our authority,” he said.
