Bandung - The West Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjenpas) has taken firm action against an employee suspected of being involved in a methamphetamine party alongside inmates at the Depok Detention Centre (Rutan).

The Head of the Correctional Division of the West Java Ditjenpas Regional Office, Yudi Suseno, stated that legal steps have been taken against the staff member involved.

“The handling is based on ongoing investigation results. Regarding the involved employee, the Head of the Detention Centre has filed a police report (LP) since yesterday, and it is currently being followed up,” Yudi said when confirmed in Bandung on Monday.

In addition to the staff member, Ditjenpas has also taken action against the inmates suspected of participating in the narcotics party by transferring them to other correctional institutions.

“The inmates have been moved to other prisons,” he revealed.

Yudi emphasised that his office will not tolerate the trafficking or abuse of narcotics within correctional and detention centres. He noted that these enforcement measures are part of an effort to maintain integrity and eradicate drug circulation within the correctional environment.

“We are not playing around,” Yudi asserted.

Previously, a video showing a group of men, suspected to be inmates, dancing and partying with methamphetamine went viral on social media. In the video, several men appeared to be gathered in a closed room, dancing to loud music, while one man was seen holding a bottle suspected to be used as a drug paraphernalia (bong).
