West Java Correctional Office Denies Ferdy Sambo Received Luxury Facilities at Cibinong Prison

The West Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjenpas) under the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections has stated that they are still conducting a deep investigation regarding findings by the Indonesian Ombudsman concerning luxury rooms and facilities at the Cibinong Class IIA Prison. They have denied reports that the inmate Ferdy Sambo utilised such facilities.

“Up to this point, the Ditjenpas team and the Regional Office team are still conducting further investigations. Regarding the specific individuals mentioned, the fact is that when the Ombudsman conducted their inspection, they did not find the person named,” said the Head of the West Java Correctional Office, Yudi Suseno, when confirmed on Thursday (24/09/2026).

He denied that the facilities identified by the Ombudsman were being used by inmates. He explained that the complex in question consists of official residences and includes ‘Pondok Sae’, a facility used for assimilation and education. “The team is still conducting investigations, and the results will be reported to the leadership,” he added.

He further clarified that the locations visited by the Ombudsman were official residential quarters for staff.

It is noted that these findings emerged during a sudden inspection conducted by the Ombudsman on Wednesday (23/09/2026). The Ombudsman discovered more than 10 rooms with facilities differing from standard residential blocks, as well as several individuals suspected to be inmates residing separately.
