The West Java High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati Jabar) has ensured that the handling of the alleged corruption case regarding housing allowances for the Indramayu Regency DPRD for the 2022 fiscal year is proceeding accountably. The prosecution emphasised that the investigation is based entirely on the strength of valid evidence, rather than external pressure or arbitrary deadlines.

This commitment to resolving the case was stated directly by the Head of the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office, Dr Sutikno, while receiving aspirations from the Indonesian Law Student Movement (GMHI) at the Kejati Jabar Office in Bandung on Friday (5/6/2026). “Regarding our commitment to resolving corruption cases, we will do our maximum. We will not promise to handle corruption cases as quickly as possible, but simply look at our evidence,” said Sutikno.

As a concrete sign of progress in the case, Kejati Jabar confirmed an upgrade in the legal status of a key witness. The Deputy Regent of Indramayu, identified by the initial S, has officially been named a suspect since early June 2026, after investigators found sufficient evidence. The Assistant for Special Crimes (Aspidsus) of Kejati Jabar, Roy Rovalino Herudiansyah, explained that the transition from general investigation to the designation of a suspect is part of ensuring legal certainty.

“That Mr S, as the Deputy Regent of Indramayu Regency, has had his status upgraded from investigation to suspect since the beginning of June,” explained Roy.

This designation also responds to pressure from law students who have called on the prosecutor’s office to accelerate the resolution of corruption cases in West Java to avoid the perception of selective enforcement. Kejati Jabar stated that in handling corruption crimes, caution and the validity of evidence are the primary priorities to avoid legal loopholes during the subsequent trial process. In response to this progress, representatives from GMHI stated they will continue to conduct regular monitoring to ensure the handling of the Indramayu DPRD housing allowance case remains transparent until the case files are submitted to the Corruption Court.
