West Java Boosts Superior Human Resources through Strengthened Primary Healthcare Services
The Provincial Government of West Java is strengthening primary healthcare services as the foundation for developing superior human resources. This commitment was affirmed by West Java Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan during the launch of the KITA SEHAT Programme at the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas office in Jakarta on Monday, 20 July 2026. Erwan stated that the KITA SEHAT programme could be one of the efforts to improve public health standards in order to build superior human resources in West Java. Therefore, the strengthening of primary healthcare services is carried out not only to improve service quality, but also as part of health governance reform to make it more effective, equitable, and sustainable. “We are committed to improving the quality of public health services with the support of the KITA SEHAT Programme. This strengthening of primary healthcare services is not merely about improving service quality, but is a manifestation of health governance reform to be more effective, equitable, and sustainable,” said Erwan. According to him, the KITA SEHAT Programme is relevant to various health challenges in West Java, including accelerating stunting reduction and improving toddler nutrition. Through this collaboration, the programme is expected to accelerate the transformation of health services in 27 regencies and cities across West Java. Efforts to expand access to health services have also been undertaken by the West Java Provincial Government through the Village Doctor Programme. This programme brings medical personnel to remote areas so that communities can obtain health services that are closer, faster, and of higher quality. Erwan emphasised that strengthening primary healthcare services in West Java is expected to have a broad impact on improving the quality of life for the community. The success of the health transformation in West Java is also considered capable of contributing to the achievement of national health development targets.
