West Jakarta strengthens public information transparency through PPID mentoring
Jakarta – West Jakarta administration is strengthening the public information transparency ecosystem through mentoring of Public Information Management Officials (PPID) at district and village levels.
“In the digital era, public transparency must truly be conveyed at the district and village levels, so that activities related to public services are all made public,” said West Jakarta City Secretary, Firmanuddin Ibrahim when confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday.
According to Firman, the mentoring is important given that government performance is monitored and evaluated by the public through PPID.
“Whether in routine service activities, or other activities outside of services, such as information related to temples, culinary offerings in Petak Enam, and so on,” he said.
Furthermore, Firman also conveyed the wish of West Jakarta Mayor, Iin Mutmainnah for public information services to reach neighbourhood and community association levels.
“The mayor’s target is that information transparency can reach neighbourhood and community association levels. That is long-term; we are first developing PPID at district and village levels. We are establishing PPIDs with several predetermined requirements,” added Firman.
Meanwhile, Head of General Affairs and Protocol, Afandi said that PPID is one of the important pillars in realising good and accountable governance.
Through PPID, he said, the public has the right to obtain information that is correct, accurate and not misleading.
“This activity (monitoring and evaluation) is an important opportunity to increase capacity building and understanding as well as synergy among regional agencies in information and documentation management,” he concluded.
