West Jakarta Social Services Distribute Wheelchairs to Disabled Residents in Jelambar
The West Jakarta Social Affairs Office distributed wheelchairs to five residents with disabilities in the Jelambar area, Grogol Petamburan District, on Monday. Danu, the Head of the Social Implementation Unit for Grogol Petamburan, stated that the programme is part of the government’s commitment to providing inclusive services for the community. “We are striving to ensure that all citizens receive attention and equal opportunities to live more independently and prosperously,” he said in Jakarta on Monday.
The distribution was carried out directly to the homes of the recipients across various locations in the Jelambar area. Danu explained that the assistance is provided as a form of government care for people with disabilities and residents in need of mobility aids to support their daily activities. Officers also provided education regarding the use and maintenance of the wheelchairs to ensure they can be utilised optimally and sustainably by the beneficiaries.
Previously, the West Jakarta Social Affairs Office set a target to distribute 970 physical assistive devices (ABF) to disabled residents throughout 2026. This figure represents an increase from the 809 units distributed in 2025. “For the 2026 procurement target, there are 970 ABF units,” said the Head of West Jakarta Social Affairs, Fajar Laksono, when confirmed by ANTARA in Jakarta on Friday. He noted that the 970 units consist of 600 adult wheelchairs, 25 children’s wheelchairs, 50 tripods, 50 walkers, 25 canes for the visually impaired, 200 hearing aids, and 20 prosthetic legs.
