West Jakarta Social Agency Distributes 379 Mobility Aids for Residents with Disabilities

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The West Jakarta Social Services (Sudinsost) has distributed 379 physical aids (ABF) to disabled residents during 2026.

“The distribution includes 233 wheelchairs, 92 hearing aids, 10 prosthetic legs, 30 walking sticks, and 14 walkers,” stated the Head of West Jakarta Sudinsos, Fajar Laksono, via a text message in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Applications for physical aid assistance to Sudinsos can be made through local neighbourhood heads (RT/RW). From the RT/RW, the referral from the applying disabled resident will be forwarded to the sub-district (kelurahan) level, where the sub-district office will issue a community referral letter (Surat PM 1) addressed to Sudinsos.

“Applications to us are processed through Social Assistants (Pendamsos) alongside the Sudinsos Unit Head to manage the administration,” said Fajar.

Subsequently, officers will conduct visits to perform assessments on the condition of potential recipients.

“Our officers conduct these visits to determine the specific needs and the level of urgency. We check both the administrative and physical aspects to ensure that the distribution of physical aids is precisely targeted,” concluded Fajar.

This figure is part of a larger distribution effort, following the 809 units realised in 2025.

“For the 2026 procurement target, there are 970 physical aids planned,” Fajar revealed.

He mentioned that the 970 units will consist of 600 adult wheelchairs, 25 children’s wheelchairs, 50 tripod walking sticks, 50 walkers, 25 white canes for the visually impaired, 200 hearing aids, and 20 prosthetic legs.
