The West Jakarta Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) provided education on the dangers of narcotics and youth violence to students at Sumpah Pemuda School in Kembangan, West Jakarta, on Wednesday, the third day of the School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS). The aim is for new students to avoid narcotics abuse, negative social interactions, brawling, bullying, and various behaviours that could harm their future, said West Jakarta Satpol PP Head Herry Purnama during the activity titled ‘The Dangers of Drugs and Social Phenomena of Youth Behaviour’. He also outlined the three main functions of Satpol PP: enforcing regional and head of region regulations, maintaining public peace and order, and providing public protection. ‘Through these three functions, Satpol PP is present to assist the regional government in creating orderly, safe, and conducive governance,’ Herry stated. ‘The young generation are the nation’s future leaders who must be prepared from an early age to be able to compete and provide the best contribution to Indonesia’s progress,’ he added. Students were also reminded to use technology wisely and positively, to set life goals early, to respect parents and teachers, and to avoid various negative behaviours that could ruin their future. ‘Avoid brawling, bullying, and drugs. Make these three things a guideline to stay away from. Make your parents proud, be aware of bad environmental influences, and keep the spirit of learning so that your goals can be achieved,’ Herry continued. He also expressed hope that the Sumpah Pemuda Education Foundation could produce a generation that is intelligent, of strong character, and capable of becoming agents of change who bring a positive impact to society.
