West Jakarta records 178 vehicles in Kembangan emissions test, 34 fail
The West Jakarta Environmental Sub-agency recorded that 178 vehicles participated in a free emissions test held at the West Primary Centre Area (SPB), Jalan Puri Lingkar Luar, RW 02, South Kembangan, Kembangan District, on Thursday. The activity is a collaboration between the West Jakarta City Government and the West Jakarta Metro Police.
Head of the West Jakarta Environmental Sub-agency, Aldi Jansen, detailed that of the 178 tested, 144 vehicles were declared to meet emission quality standards, while 34 other vehicles failed. “Of the 51 petrol-fuelled cars examined, 50 vehicles passed and one vehicle failed,” Aldi said at the location on Thursday.
He continued that of the 53 diesel-fuelled cars, 50 vehicles passed and three vehicles failed the emissions test. “Meanwhile, of the 74 motorcycles that took part in the inspection, 44 vehicles passed, while 30 other vehicles did not meet the required emission quality standards,” he added.
According to Aldi, the free emissions test aims to make it easier for the public to know the condition of their vehicle emissions. “We want to ensure residents’ vehicles meet the established emission quality standards. Through this activity, the public can find out their vehicle’s emission condition for free,” Aldi said.
He explained that the implementation of the emissions test is a follow-up to DKI Jakarta Governor Regulation Number 66 of 2020 concerning Motor Vehicle Exhaust Emission Testing. Aldi noted that the inspection results can be accessed by the public through the official website ujiemisi.jakarta.go.id or the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government’s e-Uji Emisi application.
“Vehicle owners who do not meet emission standards are urged to carry out maintenance or servicing immediately to reduce air pollution,” he said. Meanwhile, West Jakarta City Assistant for Economy and Development, Imron Sjahrin, invited the public to take advantage of the free emissions testing service as a form of environmental concern. “Apart from being free, the emission test results serve as a reference for vehicle owners to ensure their vehicles remain environmentally friendly,” Imron said.
