Jakarta – West Jakarta’s Department of Labour, Transmigration and Energy received 40 employee complaints regarding delayed payment of festive holiday allowances (THR).

The Head of the West Jakarta Department of Labour, Transmigration and Energy (Sudin Nakertransgi), Jackson D. Sitorus, stated that complaints began arriving from seven days before Eid, on Friday 13 March.

“We have now received reports from approximately 40 companies in West Jakarta,” Jackson said in Kembangan, West Jakarta, on Monday.

The department is actively following up on the complaints by contacting the companies involved. “We will ensure that companies fulfil the rights owed to their workers,” he added.

The West Jakarta THR complaint centre remains open for workers entitled to festive allowances who have not yet received payment from their employers.

The complaint centre is located at the West Jakarta Sudin Nakertransgi office on the sixth floor of Block B of the City Hall Building.

“So employees in West Jakarta who feel their THR has not been fulfilled are welcome to lodge complaints,” Jackson said.

West Jakarta’s Department of Labour, Transmigration and Energy conducted surprise inspections of THR payments at shopping centres in the Puri Kembangan area on Monday.

Jackson stated that the surprise inspections were conducted to ensure workers’ rights to receive THR were being met.

“The purpose of these inspections is to ensure that all companies, although we have only checked one location so far, are fulfilling their normative obligations. Because festive holiday allowances are the right of all employees,” he said following the inspection.

Based on the inspection results, one shopping centre selling daily necessities in the Kembangan area of West Jakarta had fulfilled its THR obligations to its employees.

“Alhamdulillah, GrandLucky (Puri Indah Mall) has provided workers’ rights, including THR, well and ahead of the stipulated deadline,” Jackson said.

In addition to West Jakarta, THR inspections were also conducted in four other city areas: PT Soho Global Health in East Jakarta, PT Steel Center Indonesia in North Jakarta, Wisma 46 Kota BNI Jakarta in Central Jakarta, and PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia in South Jakarta.

Based on the inspection results, these companies had fulfilled their THR obligations to employees.
