Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has responded to data from the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK) which states that West Jakarta is the area with the second-highest number of online gambling players. Pramono has urged law enforcement officials to eradicate the practice of online gambling as forcefully as possible. “Firstly, regarding online gambling. Because Jakarta has a fairly large population and on average its citizens have purchasing power, even though people then speculate with online gambling,” Pramono said in the Latumenten area, West Jakarta, on Thursday (2/7/2026). Pramono hopes the government, together with law enforcement officials, will take firm steps to eradicate online gambling practices in Jakarta. He stressed that the Jakarta Provincial Government is ready to provide full support for these efforts. “And I truly hope and expect the government, in this case law enforcement officials, regarding online gambling in Jakarta, to eradicate it as forcefully as possible, I give my full support,” he asserted. Previously, the PPATK revealed that Greater Jakarta is a national ‘red zone’ for online gambling, with four top regions having the highest number of online gambling players throughout 2025. The number of male players is far higher than female players. “PPATK data for 2025 shows a concentration of online gambling activity in several regions, with Greater Jakarta being one of the largest clusters nationally,” wrote a post on the official Instagram account @ppatk_indonesia, quoted on Friday (26/6). The mapping results show four regions with the most players, namely Bogor Regency with 103,092 players and total deposits of Rp 414.4 billion, West Jakarta with 89,320 players and deposits of Rp 600.6 billion, East Jakarta with 81,750 players and deposits of Rp 425.9 billion, and Bandung City with 80,549 players and deposits of Rp 341.7 billion.
