The West Jakarta Food Security, Marine and Agriculture (KPKP) Agency has recorded that the realisation of rabies vaccinations for Rabies-Carrying Animals (HPR) has only reached 40.48 per cent of the total target set for 2026. As of the end of May 2026, officers had only managed to administer vaccines to 3,692 HPR out of the total annual target of 9,300 HPR. The Head of the Livestock and Animal Health Section of the West Jakarta KPKP Agency, Tanti, explained on Tuesday that the achievement was collected from the implementation of vaccinations in eight sub-district areas in West Jakarta. “The realisation of HPR vaccinations is only 40.48 per cent of the 2026 vaccination target of 9,300 HPR,” Tanti said when confirmed. In detail, the Kalideres sub-district area has carried out vaccinations on 781 HPR, consisting of 47 dogs, 720 cats, 10 monkeys and 4 civets. Kembangan sub-district has vaccinated 645 HPR, consisting of 106 dogs, 534 cats and 5 monkeys. Kebon Jeruk sub-district has vaccinated 349 HPR, consisting of 30 dogs, 315 cats, one monkey and 3 civets. Palmerah sub-district has vaccinated 720 HPR, consisting of 48 dogs, 667 cats, one monkey and 4 civets. Grogol Petamburan sub-district has vaccinated 129 HPR, consisting of 29 dogs, 98 cats and 2 monkeys. Tanti revealed that in order to boost the achievement percentage and bring services closer to the community, her agency is implementing a proactive strategy this month. “This month’s vaccination has just been implemented with an outreach service within the RW environment,” she said. She emphasised that the rabies vaccination programme is a vital preventive measure. The goal is not only to maintain the immunity and health of pets but also to provide optimal protection for the community from the fatal risk of rabies transmission. In addition to focusing on pursuing the vaccination percentage target, the West Jakarta KPKP Agency is also running a supporting programme in the form of animal sterilisation. This step is taken as a humane and sustainable effort to control the HPR population. “Suppressing the cat population growth rate and improving the quality of animal health,” she said.
