West Jakarta Public Works Department Addresses Leaning Utility Poles in Kalideres

The West Jakarta Public Works Department, alongside the Indonesian Telecommunications Network Providers Association (Apjatel) and network owners, is handling leaning utility poles and dangling cables reported by residents on Jalan Kamal Raya, Tegal Alur, Kalideres.

The Head of Urban Utility Infrastructure and Public Street Lighting for the West Jakarta Public Works Sub-department, Abdul Jabbar, stated that the condition of these utility poles is the responsibility of the network owners.

“As an initial step, our officers have secured and tied the dangling overhead cables to ensure they do not disturb members of the public passing by,” Abdul said when confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday.

Based on monitoring results, the poles became tilted due to the impact of drainage construction work being carried out by the West Jakarta Water Resources Sub-department.

He added that the handling and relocation of the poles affected by the drainage work will be carried out by the utility network owners in conjunction with Apjatel, according to field requirements.

“The handling and relocation will be performed by the utility network owners together with Apjatel as needed on the ground,” he explained.

The West Jakarta Public Works Sub-department will continue to coordinate with relevant parties to ensure that the handling proceeds smoothly and does not compromise public safety or comfort.
