Jakarta (ANTARA) - The West Jakarta District Prosecution Office (Kejari Jakbar), together with the National Prosecutors’ Office Fugitive Task Force (Tabur) in Jakarta, has apprehended a land mafia operator in connection with a property document forgery case after the convicted individual had been listed as a wanted person (DPO) since 2017.

Head of the West Jakarta District Prosecution Office Nurul Wahida Rifai stated that the suspect, Kho Yang Tjhi Subardi (72), was arrested at his residence in Penjaringan, North Jakarta, on Tuesday, 10 March at approximately 18:30 Western Indonesia Time (WIB).

“Alhamdulillah, on Tuesday, 10 March 2026, we successfully located the convicted individual in the document forgery case from 2017,” Nurul said when confirmed in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Previously, she explained that the suspect had been sentenced to one year imprisonment after being found guilty of forging documents, as stipulated in Article 263 subsection (2) in conjunction with Article 64 subsection (1) of the Criminal Code.

“This verdict is contained in the Decision of the West Jakarta District Court Number 1097/Pid.B/2017/PN Jkt.Brt dated 7 September 2017, which has obtained permanent legal force (inkracht),” said Nurul.

However, following the court decision, the suspect is reported to have fled, resulting in his inclusion on the wanted persons list.

After being apprehended, the suspect was immediately transferred to Salemba Penitentiary to serve his sentence in accordance with the court decision.

“We have actually been pursuing this fugitive for a long time, but were unsuccessful. To cut a long story short, he went for treatment in Pontianak. From there, we received information that he had returned to Jakarta. Alhamdulillah, we finally found him at his residence,” Nurul explained.

“The suspect altered the actual land area, which was only 78 square metres, to 278 square metres. The forged document was subsequently used to register a land certificate at the National Land Agency (BPN) office in West Jakarta,” Nurul clarified.

As a result of the forged document, a portion of the victim’s land in the vicinity was transferred to become the suspect’s property.

Subsequently, said Nurul, the victim immediately reported the case to the Metro Jaya Regional Police’s Investigation Unit (SPKT) and the matter was processed through the legal system.

“Regarding losses, it was approximately 200 square metres. As for the monetary value, it was not mentioned in the verdict,” Nurul stated.

She noted that the arrest was part of the West Jakarta District Prosecution Office’s efforts to resolve long-standing cases involving criminal fugitives.

“Essentially, over the past four months, my team and I have worked hard to deliver the best results. This is a call to restore the honour of the West Jakarta District Prosecution Office,” Nurul concluded.
