West Jakarta PPAPP Encourages Fathers' Role in Childcare Through AMAN Class

The West Jakarta Empowerment, Child Protection and Population Control (PPAPP) agency is encouraging the important role of fathers in childcare through the Ayah Idaman (AMAN) class programme. Head of the West Jakarta PPAPP, Dian Anggraini Susanthi, stated that a father’s presence, both physically and emotionally, has a significant influence on child development, character building, and the creation of a harmonious family. “The role of a father is not only as a breadwinner, but also as an educator, protector, guide, friend, and role model for his children,” Dian said during the AMAN class activity for couples of reproductive age in Cengkareng on Friday. Dian explained that the AMAN activity is an implementation of the national Gerakan Ayah Teladan Indonesia (Indonesian Role Model Father Movement) at the regional level. The programme serves as a platform for learning and sharing experiences regarding positive parenting patterns, reproductive health, family communication, child protection, and character building from an early age. “Through the Indonesian Role Model Father Movement, we invite fathers to be more actively present in their children’s lives, build warm communication within the family, and together create a safe, healthy, and loving environment,” she said. She hopes this activity will give rise to a community of fathers who inspire each other and become role models, both within the family and in society. She also emphasised that the success of the programme requires collaboration from all stakeholders, ranging from regional apparatus, health facilities, and educational units to businesses, community organisations, religious leaders, and the wider community.
