West Jakarta Police Raid Nabs Man Carrying Meth Package

Jakarta (ANTARA) - A stationary checkpoint operation conducted by West Jakarta Metro Police together with the three pillars and the Brimob unit of the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police apprehended a man carrying a package of crystal methamphetamine in the early hours of Wednesday.

“During the operation, we detained one individual who was found carrying a package of narcotics of the crystal methamphetamine type,” said the Head of Tamansari Metro Sector Police, Police Commissioner Rusyadi, when contacted in Jakarta on Wednesday.

According to Rusyadi, the suspect was detained during a joint stationary checkpoint operation in the Kapuk area of Cengkareng.

“He has been taken to the Narcotics Unit of West Jakarta Metro Police for further investigation,” Rusyadi added.

He said the medium-scale patrol was carried out in anticipation of street crime, with a focus on preventing robbery with violence, aggravated theft and motorcycle theft.

“It also aims to provide a sense of security for residents who are still carrying out activities from night until the early hours,” Rusyadi said.

In addition to mobile patrols, stationary checkpoints were simultaneously carried out by West Jakarta Metro Police along with subordinate sector police at a number of strategic points, including the Kapuk Raya, Tamansari, Tambora, Grogol Petamburan, Cengkareng, Kalideres, Kembangan, Kebon Jeruk and Palmerah areas.

During the operation, officers conducted selective checks on suspicious motorcycle riders, including verification of identity documents and belongings, as a preventive measure against criminal activity and the circulation of narcotics.
