West Jakarta Police Raid Nabs Man Carrying Meth Package
A stationary raid carried out by the West Jakarta Metro Police together with three pillars and the Metro Jaya Police Mobile Brigade has apprehended a man carrying a package of methamphetamine in the early hours of Wednesday. “In this operation, we detained one person who was found carrying a package of methamphetamine,” said Metro Tamansari Police Chief Kompol Rusyadi when confirmed in Jakarta on Wednesday. The perpetrator was detained during a raid in the Kapuk area, Cengkareng. “He has been taken to the West Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Unit for further investigation,” Rusyadi stated. He explained that the medium-scale patrol was conducted to anticipate street crime, focusing on preventing violent theft, aggravated theft, and motor vehicle theft. “It is also to provide a sense of security to members of the public who are still active late at night into the early hours,” Rusyadi added. In addition to mobile patrols, stationary raids were carried out simultaneously by the West Jakarta Metro Police and its precinct ranks at several strategic points, including the Kapuk Raya, Tamansari, Tambora, Grogol Petamburan, Cengkareng, Kalideres, Kembangan, and Palmerah areas. During the operation, officers conducted selective checks on suspicious motorists, including verifying identification and inspecting carried items, as a preventive measure against crime and drug trafficking.
