Jakarta (ANTARA) - The West Jakarta Sub-Department of Tourism and Creative Economy (Sudin Parekraf) has urged business actors, particularly in the hotel and restaurant sectors, to pay attention to improving environmental management quality and worker protection.

Head of the West Jakarta Sub-Department of Tourism and Creative Economy Sherly Yuliana explained this during a technical guidance (bimtek) event held for the tourism industry, focusing on business governance and regulatory excellence.

“Through this bimtek, we hope that hotel and restaurant business actors can enhance the quality of their business management, not only in terms of service and business aspects but also in environmental management and worker protection,” said Sherly in Jakarta on Thursday.

According to Sherly, environmental management is one of the issues closely monitored by the city government due to the increasing volume of waste alongside rising business activities.

Therefore, regulatory aspects are an important part of waste management to support a conducive business climate.

“So, business actors are expected to understand and comply with business licensing requirements as well as provide decent protection for workers,” she said.

Through this bimtek, Sherly hopes that entrepreneurs gain a comprehensive understanding of producer-based waste management and the application of circular economy principles in business operations.

Furthermore, entrepreneurs will also understand the ease and compliance in business licensing, environmental pollution control, and the importance of worker protection through the BPJS Employment programme.

The bimtek, attended by 150 hotel and restaurant business actors, carries the theme “Sustainable Growth and Regulatory Excellence: Business Advances, Environment Preserved, Permits Managed.”
