West Jakarta officers remove tyre valves in crackdown on illegal parking in Kalideres
Joint officers from the West Jakarta City Administration carried out a tyre-deflation operation on Monday to crack down on dozens of vehicles parked illegally on Jalan Kintamani Raya, Kalideres sub-district, directly in front of Hermina Kalideres Hospital.
During the enforcement action, officers dealt with 26 vehicles: 23 motorcycles were subjected to the tyre-deflation operation and three cars were towed.
“This joint operation was carried out because there have been complaints from the public, both directly and through social media, regarding illegal parking in the Hermina Hospital area,” said Agus Prasetiyo, Head of the Operational Section at the West Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency, in Jakarta on Monday.
Agus said the enforcement was a follow-up to public reports about the widespread problem of vehicles being parked haphazardly in the area.
According to Agus, tackling illegal parking cannot be achieved through enforcement alone; a permanent solution is needed to meet parking demand without disrupting the function of the road.
“We will continue to coordinate with the Parking Unit and the management of Hermina Hospital to find the best solution for addressing illegal parking in front of Hermina Hospital,” he said.
Agus urged the public to use the official parking facilities provided and not to park vehicles on the road shoulder.
He stressed that enforcement will be carried out routinely at a number of illegal parking hotspots in West Jakarta.
“Parking on the road shoulder is a violation and we will take action. Therefore, please use the official parking locations that have been provided,” he asserted.
