West Jakarta Motorcycle Theft Ring Sells Stolen Bikes Cheaply to Fund Drug Parties
Typically sold at very low prices, ranging from Rp 3 million to Rp 4 million,” said AKP Rachmad Wibowo, Head of the Investigation Unit at Kalideres Police Station, in a statement on Tuesday (26/5/2026).
According to investigations, the stolen motorcycles were allegedly sold to Rangkasbitung, Banten. The proceeds from the thefts, Rachmad said, were used by the suspects for drug parties.
“Yes, the suspects revealed that the proceeds from selling the motorcycles were used to purchase drugs and narcotics, which they consumed,” he added.
Currently, five suspects identified as RD, PM, MA, YD, and AH have been arrested by police. They have different roles, from snatchers to fences.
Police seized crucial evidence from the suspects, including T-keys used in their operations. As a result, all five were charged under Section 477 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP), facing up to seven years in prison.
The gang operated over 10 times across various locations in West Jakarta.
“Police have apprehended suspects involved in multiple motorcycle thefts in Kalideres District. The incidents occurred at varying times, including evenings and early mornings, and repeatedly,” said Rihold in a statement on Tuesday (26/5).
AKP Rachmad Wibowo added that they had committed crimes at seven crime scenes, all centered in Tegal Alur Village, Kalideres, with other operations in different areas.
Rachmad explained the gang exploited unattended vehicles, taking mere seconds to unlock and steal motorcycles using T-keys.
“They conduct surveillance and strike swiftly when they deem it safe, taking the motorcycles in seconds. They use T-keys for all thefts,” he said.
The suspects targeted isolated areas with few people. They were arrested at their respective residences across different locations.
Suspect RD attempted to resist arrest, prompting police to use measured force, shooting him in the leg.
“Some suspects operated four times, others nearly three times, and some more than ten times in West Jakarta, not just Kalideres District,” he added.
