The activity was held at the Al-Istiqomah Mosque of the West Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polrestro Jakbar) on Friday.

“This joint iftar is a manifestation of synergy between the police and society, particularly online ride-hailing drivers,” said Deputy Chief of West Jakarta Metropolitan Police AKBP Rezi Dharmawan in Jakarta on Friday.

According to Rezi, the ride-hailing community is regarded as a strategic partner for the National Police (Polri) in maintaining public order and security. “Their near-constant presence in the field makes them an important part of detecting situational dynamics in the region,” he said.

The police called upon all ride-hailing driver communities to jointly maintain a safe and conducive environment, particularly in the lead-up to iftar time, the performance of evening prayers (tarawih), and approaching Eid al-Fitr.

“Where public mobility increases significantly,” he said.

Additionally, drivers were urged to always comply with traffic regulations, use safety equipment according to standards, and maintain ethics and professionalism in their work.

“Do not let the pursuit of targets overshadow safety. Remember, there is family at home waiting for your safe return. Safety is part of worship,” he said.

Ride-hailing drivers were also encouraged to use social media responsibly, not be easily provoked by information of unclear veracity, and promptly coordinate with police authorities if they detect potential security threats.
