West Jakarta Mayor Urges Holiday Travellers Not to Board Buses at Shadow Terminals
Jakarta (ANTARA) - West Jakarta Mayor Iin Mutmainnah has urged holiday travellers not to depart via shadow terminals to anticipate risks during their journeys. Instead, Iin requested that the public use official terminals provided by the government. “Shadow terminals are very risky, both in terms of vehicle safety and cost transparency,” she said when contacted in Jakarta on Wednesday. According to Iin, using official terminals is not just about legality, but also about guaranteeing safety. Previously, the West Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department (Sudinhub Jakbar) fined 19 bus units after they operated by picking up and dropping off passengers at several shadow or unofficial terminals on Tuesday (17/3). Head of the Operations Section of Sudinhub Jakbar Agus Prasetyo stated that the fines were issued at shadow terminals on Outer Ring Road Kapuk, Latumenten Street, and K.H. Mansyur Street. “As a result, team 1 took action against seven bus units consisting of two units from PT Putri Jaya Sejahtera, two units from PT Anugrah Mas, one unit from PT Pelita Baru Prima, one unit from PT Sinar Jaya Megah, and one unit from PT Karya Transfor,” Agus said when confirmed by ANTARA. Meanwhile, team 3 took action against 10 bus units, namely one unit from PT Hiba Pratama, one from PT Santika, one from PT Harapan Jaya, one from PT Mayora, two from PT Anugrah Mas, one from PT Kramat Jati, one from PT Semesta Bolo, one from PT Yoso Artopotro, and one from PT Dzakki Buana Tour. “From the operation, a total of 19 inter-provincial AKAP buses were issued Examination Report Notices (BAP) fines by officers,” he said. Agus conveyed that this crackdown is part of Sudinhub Jakbar’s efforts to maintain traffic order and suppress the existence of shadow terminals that often cause congestion and endanger passenger safety.
