West Jakarta intensifies digital data updates to combat poverty
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The West Jakarta City Government is intensively updating accurate digital-based data that can be accessed in real-time to facilitate poverty alleviation in its region. West Jakarta Mayor Iin Mutmainnah stated that poverty alleviation in West Jakarta must no longer be conducted conventionally. “Data must be continuously updated. We must know precisely who still falls into the poor category and who has ‘graduated’. Our current main focus is residents in deciles 4 and below,” said Iin during the Coordination Meeting for Monitoring, Control, and Evaluation of Poverty Alleviation for Semester 1 of 2026, on Monday. The poverty data can be accessed via jakbarkota.bps.go.id. According to Iin, poverty handling strategies must be divided into two main pillars: social protection and empowerment. Her side also requested related agencies to ensure that programmes do not stop at providing social assistance (bansos) or Supplementary Feeding (PMT). “Our programmes must be balanced. In addition to meeting the basic needs of toddlers and the elderly, residents must be equipped with soft skills and hard skills training through the Sub-Directorate of Manpower and Transmigration (Sudin Nakertransgi) and MSMEs and related sectors. The goal is for them to achieve economic independence,” she added. “Poverty alleviation is collective work. We must engage the private sector through CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), academics, foundations, and NGOs. For land or housing issues outside the city’s authority, we will continue intensive coordination with the provincial government,” she explained. She also requested the Sub-Agency for Regional Development Planning (Subanpenda) to conduct strict monitoring and evaluation (monev) of the budget, so as to have concrete achievement reports on the number of residents who have successfully exited the poverty zone. As a follow-up step, all district heads and village heads are now required to provide routine reports on the progress of poverty alleviation in their respective areas every quarter. Based on the latest data, the poverty rate in West Jakarta shows a positive trend with a decline from 3.94 percent in March 2024 to 3.91 percent in March 2025. The West Jakarta City Government is optimistic that with the right intervention strategies and accurate data, this figure will continue to be significantly reduced in 2026.
